Why Choose Prefolds? Thoughts from parents who use them:
The ridiculous reason? While still diapering they made great burp rags for the upset infant tummy, once diapering days have passed; they are wonderful dust rags and the most ingenius I've seen--make a great snugglie for toddlers (this really beats the one snugglie blanket a toddler needs to carry around and make filthy, then sobs through the wash/dry cycle when being cleaned-- just exchange the diaper for a clean one and move it through laundry!) -Alicia
Sometimes a spare prefold can act as a changing pad and then a wipe! I always grap two prefolds just in case! -Shannon
Prefolds aren't just for diapering - or just for the baby! Ours have been pinch hitters for mom when she was allergic to disposable pads postpartum - and they clean up spills in the kitchen & are great when you run out of paper towels at dinner time. Oh, and that time that the 3 yr old got sick on a whale watching expedition.... (darn sea sickness!!!). Just try & do any of that with an AIO or fitted diaper! -Doug
Prefolds last & last - which is great to realize after you have spent $40 on a fancy organic fitted & after a few washes it starts to fall apart. That has never happened with our prefolds! Also, they don't take up so much room to store. -Talia
Prefolds aren't fussy to wash! I have seen fitted diapers & AIOs with special washing instructions, special drying instructions & special detergent instructions - there is none of that with a prefold! Seems the one type of diapers hard to mess up :) -Ruth
Prefolds are great for babies with allergies. We have children who have had horrible rashes with disposables & AIOs - put a prefold on them & their skin clears up! -Amanda
One of the most important benefits of prefolds for us has been their affordability. We don't have lots of money to go around and prefolds are so much cheaper then any of the other cloth diapering systems but last so much longer! -Jamie
